John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’” John 1:26, 29

Simon and Andrew had been disciples of John the Baptist, who came preparing the way for Christ, so, when Jesus walked by, John said “Behold! The Lamb of God this is He who takes away the sin of the world!” at this point Simon and Andrew switched their loyalty from John to Jesus, without fully understand who Jesus was.

Jesus was forming His team of men that already had things going on. There was the James and John, Mark 3:17 the was called the “Sons of Thunder” I imagine with a name they was probably a force to be beckoned with.

Certainly, His disciples were an eclectic group of people. Importantly all of these men were doing something when Jesus called them. Andrew was throwing a net into the water along with Simon. And James and John were in a boat repairing their nets. Elsewhere in the Bible there’s David, who later became the king of Israel, was watching over his flock when the prophet Samuel summoned him, Moses, too, was watching over a flock when God spoke to him through a burning bush. Elisha was plowing in a field when Elijah called him to carry on the prophetic ministry.

Y’all, God understand we’re busy, just as all those mentioned above and others was busy people, too. However, they was willing. Are you willing?

If you want God to use you in His kingdom, then get busy doing something for Him. Just start with what is in front of you. Mend and cast those nets, tend those sheep, plow those fields, teach that Sunday school class, give tithe, teach those young men and women, go on that mission trip, share one on one.

Just get out and do something for God Kingdom, do what you can, where you can.
